The Driver Foundation Launches Take-Out to Help Out Initiative

Social Driver volunteers pick up food from DC LGBT businesses to deliver to nonprofits serving LGBT youth who are at risk of homelessness.

The Driver Foundation led the charge to give back to members of the LGBT community in need during COVID-19. The Driver Foundation’s Take-Out to Help Out campaign focuses on at-risk LGBTQ+ youth in Washington, D.C.

“We are purchasing meals from LGBTQ-owned businesses that have been affected by the economic effects of the pandemic, and providing to nonprofit organizations that serve LGBTQ+ youth at risk of homelessness,” said Anthony Shop, CSO and Cofounder at Social Driver.

The quickly growing Take-Out to Help Out campaign’s first nonprofit partner is SMYAL.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, the communities we care about need support like never before, especially small businesses and marginalized communities,” Shop explained. “This program has a double benefit by generating revenue for small businesses and by serving vulnerable individuals and showing them there are people who care about their well-being.”
