Social Driver received the Editor’s Choice Award for the Best LGBT-Owned, D.C. Business by the Washington Blade. Social Driver CEO and Co-Founder Thomas Sanchez accepted the award at the 2019 Washington Blade Best of Gay DC Party last night.
The award celebrates businesses that are owned and operated by members of the LGBTQ community and that embrace diversity in the workplace.
“As the CEO of a Certified LGBTQ-owned Business Enterprise, I am honored for our company to be featured by the Washington Blade,” Sanchez said. “We work hard to create an inclusive and diverse workplace for all people. We know that if people can bring their full selves to work, they can also bring 100% of their creativity and passion.”
This sentiment is echoed by Social Driver’s employees.
"I'm incredibly appreciative to go to work every day at an organization that encourages each of its employees to show up as their authentic selves. As a five-year employee of Social Driver, I'm proud to be part of a company that chooses to elevate members of the LGBTQ community, championing diverse and creative people to thrive," said Dylan Fitzgerald, Director of Development for Social Driver.
“To me, working in an inclusive culture means that I am working somewhere that values me for me, not just me in relation to my job. It’s the little things that really show that, like how our flexible work policy allows us to structure our days to make time for us to focus on our hobbies, our families, and ourselves,” said Christiane Trottie, Operations Manager for Social Driver.
In addition to celebrating diversity in the workplace and throughout its client work, Social Driver has given to and helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for The Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ people under 25. Sanchez serves on The Trevor Project’s Board of Directors and is Secretary of the nonprofit corporation. Washingtonian Magazine also named Social Driver as one of the 18 most charitable companies in D.C. and the Washington Business Journal ranked Social Driver #4 on its LGBTQ-Owned Companies list.
“At Social Driver, we embrace diversity in all forms. From our staff to the work we do with our clients to the causes we support in the community,” said Anthony Shop, Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Founder of Social Driver.
